Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) António Guterres and President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi held a meeting. This was reported in the UN press service.
The main topic of the talks was the nuclear deal.
During the conversation, Guterres noted the importance of restoring the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program and "called for more flexibility in order to reach an agreement", RIA Novosti reports.
In addition to this, the parties discussed the situation in Yemen and Afghanistan. The UN Secretary General called on Iran to continue engaging its neighbors in dialogue to reduce tensions and strengthen security in the region. He also expressed concern about the human rights situation.
