UN Secretary General António Guterres considers the normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations important. He stated this at a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, which was held in New York at the 77th session of the UN General Assembly the day before.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Bayramov informed the UN Secretary General about the large-scale provocations of Armenia and Baku's initiatives in the sphere of peacebuilding.
In turn, the head of the world organization stated the importance of the normalization process and easing tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
In addition to this, issues of Azerbaijan-the UN cooperation, future direction of activities and the current situation in the region were discussed at the meeting.
