The United Nations encourages the Kurdistan Regional Government's offer to halt all military operations and freeze the results of the referendum to settle the conflict, the Deputy Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, Farhan Haq, said.
"We are encouraged by any efforts by the parties to reach out to each other, and we encourage all efforts at dialogue," he noted.
Yesterday, the Kurdistan Regional Government has offered Iraq's central government a ceasefire and to start a bilateral dialogue, expressing readiness to "freeze" the results of the region's independence referendum.
