According to the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres, 9 million Afghans are at risk of starvation.

He also noted that 95% of the people of Afghanistan are experiencing food shortages, and 9 million are at risk of starvation. "UNICEF estimates that a million severely malnourished children will be on the verge of death if we do not take immediate action", Guterres said, adding that food prices are soaring due to the situation in Ukraine.
The UN Secretary-General stressed that more than 80% of the population of Afghanistan has debts, and doctors and teachers in schools have not received salaries for several months, TASS reports.
