UN urges Russian Federation and US to work together to preserve truce in Syria

Russia and the US should work together to preserve the ceasefire in Syria, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura stated today.

He stressed that as the initiators of the ceasefire Moscow and Washington should maintain its observance, as the UN is not involved in the process. According to Staffan de Mistura, the cooperation involves interchange of maps of the territories where the military actions are taking place, as well as monitoring the situation with the help of drones and satellites due to the absence of many field observers.
