It is necessary to resume security talks "for the benefit of all mankind", US Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan said.
He noted that this also applied to arms control issues.
At the same time, the diplomat acknowledged the difficulty of implementing this measure against the backdrop of the special operation in Ukraine.
"Our predecessors negotiated during the Cold War. Of course, negotiations require both sides", he said.
