The Republican majority in the US Congress intends to impose new sanctions against Iran in connection with its missile tests, which violated international law.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Paul Ryan, said that the Congress would continue to press for new sanctions against Iran "until the regime ends its violent, provocative behavior against the US and our allies".
The US Department of State spokesperson Mark Toner warned yesterday that if reports of fresh Iranian ballistic missile tests are confirmed, the US "plans to raise the issue at the UN Security Council".
