A US delegation led by the president of the Center for Citizen Initiatives, Sharon Tennison, has arrived in Crimea on a business visit.
The delegation includes around ten US public figures, former officials and professors. A meeting between the delegation, the Chairman of Simferopol City Council, Viktor Ageyev, and the head of the City Administration, Gennady Bakharev, has been the first official event within the framework of the visit.
"Let me first of all note your courage. We understand how important the work of civil initiatives is in our environment specifically. I hope that through communication with us you will see that Crimean people are united regardless of religion and nationality, and are building new Crimea," Sputnik cited Bakharev as saying.
Tennison in turn thanked the authorities of Simferopol for a warm welcome and expressed the delegation's desire to use all the opportunities to tell what exactly was going on in Crimea.
