US imposes sanctions against IS militants in North Caucasus

The US authorities have decided to impose sanctions against militants in the North Caucasus who have positioned themselves as a wing of the so-called Islamic State terrorist organization, the US State Department reports.

It is reported that Rustam Aselder, the former emir of the Caucasus Emirate, and Tarhan Gaziyev, who has been linked with North Caucasus militants since 2003, as well as Shamil Ismailov, the leader of the Russian-speaking militants of IS in Raqqa, are under the sanctions regime. All these people are somehow linked to the murder of citizens of the Russian Federation, RIA Novosti reports.
