The US has invited Uzbekistan to join the coalition against the terrorist group Islamic State, Deputy Assistant of the US Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Daniel Rosenblum stated.
He explained that the United States "asked Uzbekistan and many other countries to join the coalition, whose mission is not only a military confrontation, but also combating the financing of IS, as well as the exchange of information on movements across borders."
Speaking about cooperation between Washington and Tashkent in the field of security, the State Department spokesman drew attention to one aspect of it – "the intensification of the exchange of information" between the security services.
Rosenblum also commented on trade and economic relations with Uzbekistan, stating that the US is interested in their development. "We are in favor of the stability of Uzbekistan," TASS quoted him as saying.
