US lost control of two drones in Middle East

The US Air Force has recently lost control of two Predator drones in Turkey and Iraq, a military spokesman Colonel Steve Warren said.

In the first case on October 17, a crew reported a "lost link and subsequent crash in the southeast of Baghdad". Later, Iraqi police found the drone in Al-Kut and returned it to the US.

On October 19, the second aircraft experienced mechanical failure in the province of Hatay in Turkey. "The Air Force in this case maintained positive control of the aircraft and brought it down safely in an unpopulated area," RBC cited Warren as saying.

Both incidents are under investigation.
