US partially lifts helicopter maintenance sanctions against Russia

The United States has partially lifted sanctions against cooperation with Afghanistan on helicopter maintenance with Russia’s Rosoboronexport state defense exporter, the Russian presidential envoy to Afghanistan, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Second Asian Department, Zamir Kabvulov, said.

"Nothing prevented them from lifting sanctions against Rosoboronexport relating to the delivery and maintenance of our helicopters to Afghanistan. They painted themselves into a corner and had to lift parts of the sanctions," Sputnik cited Kabulov as saying.

He pointed out that Washington’s reversal relates to helicopter supply part deliveries.
