US to allocate $145 million to Armenia for Zangezur corridor

The US plans to grant Armenia $145 million in aid to create the Zangezur corridor, Brendan Henrehen, Director of the US State Department's Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, said during a meeting with Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, which took place in Yerevan.

"In cooperation with Congress, we plan to provide Armenia with $145 million",

Brendan Henrehen said.

According to the US diplomat, this amount represents only the first tranche of funding for the Zangezur corridor project and other initiatives related to the Washington Declaration.

Henrehen specified that this money will be used to support investments in trade and infrastructure, the supply of critical minerals, and security.
