The US maintains partnerships with Turkey and intends to provide support to its security sector, spokesperson of the State Department John Kirby stated during a scheduled briefing.
"Regarding our commitment to the security of Turkey, nothing has changed here. Turkey is NATO's ally and a reliable partner, in particular in the fight against ISIS," he noted. Kirby recalled that Ankara allowed to locate aviation, which is participating in the campaign against Islamists in Syria, at three of its bases. Moreover, the State Department spokesman said that, in general, there is a "significant strength of missile defense", which remains in the region, including military ships at sea.
