Ulyukayev expects no changes in key rate at next Central Bank meeting

Ulyukayev expects no changes in key rate at next Central Bank meeting

The Russian Minister of Economic Development, Alexey Ulyukayev, does not expect the Central Bank to change the key interest rate at its board meeting on January 29.

"I expect that nothing will be changed,"  he said.

Recall, the Central Bank of Russia raised its key rate in December 2014 to 17%, but it has decided to maintain its key rate at 11%.

The chairperson of Russia’s Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina said in December that the regulator might reduce the rate at one of the next three meetings. The First Deputy Chairperson of the Central Bank, Ksenia Yudayeva, said in mid-January that inflation risks have increased recently, RIA Novosti reports.
