Fighting erupted on Friday in the Urvansky district of Russia’s Kabardino-Balkaria Region when police officers tried to stop a car and fire was opened on them, a law enforcement source in the North Caucasian region has said, TASS reports.
"Unidentified people opened fire on police officers as they attempted to stop a car to check it," the source said.
Earlier reports said that a counter-terrorism operation mode was imposed in part of the region’s Urvansky district at 18:10 Moscow time on December 15. Special measures and restrictions will be in place in the region until further orders.
