Uzbek mosque named after Karimov opens in Tashkent

A mosque named after the first president of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov has opened today in Tashkent.

This mosque was created in 1897, by the spring of last year the building was almost completely destroyed by fire. Restoration works began at the end of last year, they have lasted for nine months.

Now mosque will carry the name Islam-Ata (the Mosque of Father Islam) in honor of the first president of Uzbekistan.
