The nuclear power plant (NPP) will significantly contribute to national energy security, according to Uzatom chairman Azim Akhmedkhadjaev. The official specified which regions would receive electricity generated by the NPP.

"The new nuclear power plant will ensure a stable power supply to the Samarkand, Jizzakh, and Navoi regions",

Azim Akhmedkhadjaev said.

The plant's launch will enhance grid reliability in central Uzbekistan by reducing strain on existing power transmission lines.

Rosatom is participating in the Jizzakh-based project, which will include both small modular and large-capacity reactors.
