A meeting of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia, Gigi Gigiadze, and the Deputy Secretary of the Holy See for Relations with States, Archbishop Antoine Camilleri, took place in Vatican. At the talks the sides discussed a visit of the Pope of Rome Francis to Georgia, which is scheduled for the end of September.
The sides noted the historical ties between the Vatican and Georgia and a need to deepen cooperation. The regional security issues, Georgian-Russian relations and the situation in the territories beyond the control of the Georgian authorities were also discussed at the meeting, Sputnik Georgia writes.
