The Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, arrived in Moscow on Friday. His plane was met at Vnukovo airport.
His press secretary, Bertalan Havasi, spoke about the purposes of the Hungarian Prime Minister's visit. A meeting with the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, is planned. The topic of the talks will be the situation in Ukraine.

Since July 1, Hungary has chaired the Council of the European Union. Budapest did not inform the EU countries about Orban's visit to Moscow. Hungary does not have the right to interact with the Russian Federation on behalf of the EU, the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, said after the news about the upcoming visit. Orban noted that he was not acting on behalf of the EU, but on behalf of Hungary.
