Vitaly Mutko: North Caucasus is actively developing sports

‘‘The North Caucasus is actively involved in all-Russian sports development,’’ the Minister of Sports Vitaly Mutko said, answering a question from Vestnik Kavkaza about the participation of constituent parts of the North Caucasian Federal District in the upcoming Cross the Nation 2015.

Recall that the All-Russian Running Day is to take place this Sunday. The Cross of Nations is to be organized in 84 regions of the Russian Federation, including the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. According to the minister, the Cross of Russia will be the largest sporting event, which is to be attended by 1.5 million people. The results of the competitions will allow for the creation of a data base of promising Russian athletes.

In this regard, Mutko underlined that "all the republics of the North Caucasus will take part in the Cross Nations 2015.’’ ‘’The event is to take place in all the capitals and cities of the Caucasian republics, as well as all over Russia, where everything is organized in a similar way. The best sites were chosen for this event, i.e. the central squares for starts and main roads for running," he noted.

According to the minister, many famous people of the Caucasus will participate in the event. "Leaders of republics, public figures and athletes are well prepared to take part in the competition. The republics of the North Caucasus are actively developing now in the sphere of sport. We expect a great holiday of sports,’’ Vitaly Mutko concluded.

The beginning of the Central Cross is to take place in Kazan. It will be dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. The largest sporting event was held in 1918 for the first time. The event has taken place for 11 years in the Russian Federation since 2004. According to tradition, ordinary citizens and professional athletes, as well as media and policy makers will participate in the event.
