Panamanian Ambassador to Russia Miguel Lecaro Barcenas has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit the beginning of the construction of a lock on the Panama Canal during an event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
"I want to take this opportunity to pass an invitation from the Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela to the Russian President Vladimir Putin for the Russian government to be represented at the highest level for a ceremony dedicated to the beginning of the construction on the Panama Canal…on June 26," RIA Novosti cited the Ambassador as saying.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov thanked the ambassador for the invitation and promised to send it to the Russian president’s administration.
