Thanks to the new rules, which will be applied for the first time at tomorrow's World Cup in Trampoline Gymnastics and Tumbling in Baku, these sports will look much more entertaining and interesting for the audience, head of the Trampoline Gymnastics and Tumbling Technical Committee of the European Union of Gymnastics (UEG) Vladimir Zeman said.
"Baku organizers did a great job and prepared a great arena, everything necessary for the competition. Right now we are at the final stage of preparations: competitions will begin tomorrow, which means that we are currently inspecting the arena, but we can already see how great it is," he noted.
According to him, the illumination helped to create the atmosphere of a theater. "Our sport must show itself in the new conditions and, therefore, show the audience something new and interesting. After competitions we will learn from the athletes whether they liked it or not, whether they support these new conditions. In my opinion, they are not against such conditions," he stressed.
Speaking about the reform of judging system and the introduction of computer judging of individual performances, he said that they will help the sport to evolve. "You can't judge subjectively in trampoline gymnastics. We want judging to be more objective. We want to make competitions fair, so only the best athletes will become winners," he explained.
The new Olympic cycle’s first World Cup in Trampoline Gymnastics and Tumbling will take place at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku on February 18-19. 85 trampoline and tumbling gymnasts from 15 countries will take part in the competitions on the basis of the new Code of Points coming into force in 2017. The qualifications will take place on February 18, finals will be held on February 19.
