Today the great singer Muslim Magomayev would have celebrated his 74th birthday. ''He occupies not just important place, but the whole space in the music of the XX century,'' well-known TV presenter, Vladislav Flyarkovsky, said today in an interview with a Vestnik Kavkaza correspondent about preservation of the memory of the genius in modern Russia.
"Magomayev was a real genius in his field. I believe that it was a unique talent and a unique person who occupies the whole space in music,’’ he stated.
"The memory about heritage of Muslim Magomayev directly depends on the today’s generation that separates people from the creativity of Muslim Magomayev. For example, I grew up in Baku and visited his live performance. I believe that Magomayev is a whole planet. Someone may say he was a very well-known former opera and opera singer. I think that new generations will remember less about his heritage in the field of opera,’’ Vladislav Flyarkovsky noted.
In this connection, TV presenter urged to preserve and promote creativity of Muslim Magomayev.
"We need to spread videos with his performances, make films about him. Let me remind you that next year we will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Muslim Magomayev. It will be a significant event,’’ he said.
Speaking about his personal experience, Vladislav Flyarkovsky added that Magomayev opened opera for him. "My first opera was ‘The Barber of Seville’. My mother took me to the Akhundov Theatre of Opera and Ballet where Muslim Magomayev sang that evening,’’ he shared his memories.
