Volodin offers to make Russian official language in Armenia

Speaker of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin offered Armenia to adopt the official status for the Russian language so that national driving licenses could be recognized on the territory of Russia.

He recalled that a new law prohibiting foreign drivers to work in the country has been in force in Russia since June 1, 2017. At the same time, on July 14, the State Duma adopted a law that introduces the right of citizens of Kyrgyzstan, as well as other countries where the Russian language is recognized as official, to work as professional drivers having national driving permits.

Volodin’s offer came during the meeting with Armenian parliament speaker Ara Babloyan when the latter raised the issue of recognizing national driving licenses in Russia, TASS reported.
