Armenia's parliament voted overwhelmingly today to pass a bill proposing measures to increase the quantity of water released from Lake Sevan.
The draft law was adopted with 77 votes 'for' and three votes 'against', Tert.am reported.
The new legislation allows releasing annually 270 million cubic meters of water from the lake (instead of the 170 million which is the established permissible limit).
The bill received support by lawmakers of the ruling Republican faction, their coalition partner, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaksutyun (ARF-D), and the opposition Tsarukyan bloc.
