President wants the U.S. to be a leader in 6G – a technology that is nowhere near ready for prime time.
Trump took to Twitter on Thursday morning to say that he would like 5G, a technology that allows for faster data speed transfers over telecom networks from companies like AT&Tand Verizon, to be in the U.S. "as soon as possible."
"I want 5G, and even 6G, technology in the United States as soon as possible. It is far more powerful, faster, and smarter than the current standard. American companies must step up their efforts, or get left behind. There is no reason that we should be lagging behind on........." Trump tweeted, Fox News reported.
He followed that up saying the U.S. should "win through competition, not by blocking out currently more advanced technologies." "We must always be the leader in everything we do, especially when it comes to the very exciting world of technology!"
