Wearing a face mask in outdoor spaces will no longer be mandatory across Georgia starting March 28, Giorgi Ghibradze of the Interagency Coordination Council said.
"Wearing masks in indoor spaces, including public transport, will remain mandatory in the country," Ghibradze added.
Several other changes are also introduced, including lifting of “quantitative restrictions” on public catering facilities and social events, termination of remote working, and scrapping of mandatory self-isolation for Georgian citizens who are returning to the country without PCR test results.
Georgia has registered 1,053 new Covid-19 cases, 2,067 recoveries, and seven deaths in the past 24 hours, with 25,013 people remaining infected with the coronavirus in the country as of today.
On February 22 the Government decided to scrap the use of quarantine hotels, along with several other restrictions, such as limitations on public events and gatherings, starting March 1.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced in mid-February the Government anticipated the general situation with the epidemic to stabilise by the end of March.
