White House: US and G7 ready to strengthen anti-Russian sanctions

The US and G7 leaders agreed to continue pressing Russia to fully implement the Minsk agreements, the White House said following a meeting of US Vice President Joe Biden with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

"The Vice President noted that the United States and its G7 allies stand ready to impose significant additional sanctions if necessary to respond to Russia’s actions," RIA Novosti reports.

The Vice President also underscored "the resolve of the United States and its G7 partners to continue pressing Russia to fully implement the Minsk agreements, including return of the Ukrainian side of the international border to Ukrainian control, as well as the withdrawal of all Russian soldiers and weapons from Ukraine".

The Vice President and the Prime Minister discussed Ukraine’s reform agenda, and the "need to continue moving forward with anti-corruption measures" and "other efforts that will support stability and growth, and help to attract additional investment in Ukraine," the White House said.
