Who will win Iran's presidential election?

On June 27, Iran is observing a day of silence ahead of the early presidential election.

The candidates' campaigning for the extraordinary presidential election to be held on June 28 has ended in Iran.

According to the law "On Elections" in Iran, 24 hours before the elections are considered a "day of silence".

The campaigning for presidential candidates began on June 9.

The presidential elections will start on June 28 at 08:00 in Iran. Five candidates will fight for the post of president.

Who's in the running to be Iran's next president?

Iranian presidential candidate Amir-Hossein Ghazizadeh Hashemi has withdrawn from the country's presidential race.

Ghazizadeh Hasehmi’s decision leaves five other candidates still in the race:

  • Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf,
  • Tehran mayor Alireza Zakani,
  • Saeed Jalili, who ran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's office for four years,
  • former justice minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi
  • lawmaker Masoud Pezeshkian.

According to a latest survey, Pezeshkian is in the lead among potential presidential candidates. Jalili and Qalibaf are also in the top three.
