Donald Trump accepted the nomination for president of the United States. His candidacy was nominated at the Republican National Convention.

"I am running to be president for all of America, not half of America... Tonight, with faith and devotion, I proudly accept your nomination for President of the United States",

Trump said.

Republicans nominated James David Vance, a senator from Ohio, as their candidate for Vice President. The party also decided on an election platform for four years.

Democrats, on the contrary, have no consensus on who should compete for the presidency today. More and more opinions appear that Joseph Biden should withdraw his candidacy. Leaders of the US Congress and members of the Democratic Party are saying that Biden should not be re-elected. The pressure on the president is growing, support is falling, and these days he is in isolation due to COVID.

The current US President may withdraw from the election in the coming days. According to some reports, he may withdraw his candidacy today, according to others, he may do it on July 20-21.

Who could be the new Democratic candidate? The most likely contender is Vice President Kamala Harris. The Democrats will name their presidential candidate in a month at the party convention, which will be held in Chicago on August 19-22.

Sources say Biden has requested a poll to find out what public support Harris would have if she replaced him in the election.

The recent assassination attempt on Trump has strengthened his position. Recent US polls show that 52% of Americans are now ready to elect Trump as president. 47% of respondents are ready to vote for Biden, and if Harris represents the Democrats in the elections, she will receive 48% of the vote
