The Universiade 2017 Torch Relay with the participation of of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has kicked off in Astana.
60 people, including well-known athletes and public figures, will carry the torch a distance of 12km. The torch will make stops in each regional center of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
For the next few days the Universiade Flame will travel more than 22,500 km across the country before it arrives in Almaty, Inform.kz reports.
The Winter Universiade in Almaty will be held from January 29 to February 8, 2017.
