Azerbaijan demonstrates support for the Russian Federation at various levels, Yelena Sutormina, chairman of the Public Chamber Commission on the Development of Public Diplomacy and Support of Compatriots Abroad, said in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza.
"In particular, good relations have developed between public organizations of Russia and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani citizens know Russian language very well, including young people; Russian language is taught in many schools and universities of the country," she said.
"Considering geopolitical situation, it's important that Azerbaijan often supports Russia's position at international platforms. This indicates that Russia's position in the international arena is strengthening, the circle of our partners is expanding," she stressed, noting the huge relevance of development of humanitarian ties.
"I can say that the Public Chamber is actively cooperating with Azerbaijani organizations, in particular within the framework of the "Russian Corner" project on promotion of the Russian language abroad through multimedia tools. Azerbaijani actors and singers such as Muslim Magomayev, Polad Bulbuloglu are known and loved in Russia," she said.
"Deepening of cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan has good prospects. We want representatives of the NGOs of our countries to actively cooperate, especially since there's such traditional and relevant platform as the Civil Society Forum in Baku, where many representatives of NGOs from Russia are invited," she concluded.
