Illegal private property was discovered on the territory of the Yerablur complex, where dead Armenian soldiers are buried: 15–20 years ago, part of the cemetery was sold at reduced prices by one of the leaders of the Armenian Ministry of Defense. Now he will be tried for money laundering.
Today, the Armenian Investigative Committee spoke about the discovery of a fraudulent scheme, as a part of which the land on the territory of the Yerablur military burial ground was sold for next to nothing 20 years ago. A series of similar economic crimes against the interests of the state were committed by yet unnamed official of the Ministry of Defense.
It is clarified that in 2005-2008, the suspect, with the assistance of other officials, used his powers to sell land plots in Yerablur, as well as on Isahakyan Avenue, at excessively low prices. Because of his actions, the state received less than $15 mln for these lands. In total, 19 plots of land were sold into private ownership in this way.
