Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Binali Yildirim will resign today to 20:00 local time.
Yildirim will resign in connection with the official nomination of his candidacy for the post of head of the Istanbul municipality.
MP from the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Celal Adan will temporary perform Yildirim’s duties, Turkish media reported.
The municipal elections in Turkey will be held March 31, 2019.
