The head of Ingushetia, Yunus-bek Yevkurov, has said that a member of the Presidential Council on Civil Society and Human Rights, the Chairman of the Committee for the Prevention of Torture Igor Kalyapin, wanted to hold a press conference in Ingushetia on the situation in Chechnya. Yevkurov added that he was unaware of such plans, saying that he had good relations with all human rights defenders and he regularly negotiates with them.
"If Kalyapin or other human rights activists want to use Ingushetia as a platform to discuss their issues related to other subjects, it is unacceptable,’’ Yevkurov stated.
