Yunus-bek Yevkurov marks his 52nd birthday today

Today the head of the Republic of Ingushetia, Hero of the Russian Federation, Major-General Yunus-bek Yevkurov is marking his 52th birthday. The team of Vestnik Kavkaza congratulates Yunus-bek Bamatgireevich on his birthday and wishes him good health, longevity and success in his work as the head of Ingushetia.

The rector of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Viktor Sadovnichy, also congratulated him. "Dear Yunus-bek Bamatgireevich! On behalf of Moscow University I congratulate you on your birthday. I wish peace and tranquility to your great house – Ingushetia – and welfare, prosperity, strength, courage and new achievements to you in your arduous, but noble mission for the benefit of your people and the whole of Russia," Sadovnichy said.

Yevkurov was born in Tarskoye (Prigorodny District of the North Ossetian ASSR) on July 30th 1963. He has been serving in the Armed Forces since 1982. He graduated from the Ryazan Airborne Command School in 1989, the Frunze Military Academy in 1997, the Military Academy of the General Staff in 2004. He became a Hero of Russia on April 30th 2000 for merit during service in Kosovo. He was promoted to Deputy Chief of Staff of the Volga-Ural Military District (Yekaterinburg). He was appointed as the head of Ingushetia in 2008 and 2013.

Yevkurov also published his personal telephone number on his personal blog in 2012, which militants who are going to surrender may use to contact the head of the republic himself.
