Yuri Rogulev: collisions between US and the Russian Federation will continue after the elections

Regardless the result of the upcoming presidential elections in the United States, the US won't abandon its right to interfere in the life of foreign countries and dictate their will. In this connection Russia will continue the policy of defending of its national interests in unavoidable collisions with 'Western partners' in the international political scene,'' the director of the Roosevelt US Study Centerat the Lomonosov Moscow State University,Yuri Rogulev told 'Vestnik Kavkaza'.

"Certainly, after the elections the US international agenda may change because a lot of things depend on the fact who will be responsible for the American foreign policy, but there are no fundamental prerequisites for changes. The Congress and the party will continue to support the idea of US domination. Nobody will abandon this idea in the near future. It will lead to the continuation of inevitable rivalry in order to dispute the dominance of United States in the world. Certainly, Washington's role and opportunities in international affairs will decline, but it will be a slow and painful rejection process for the American leadership policy. It will be painful not only for the US, but also for other countries. All you need is to be ready that Russia will continue to defend its policy and interests," he warned.

Above all, Moscow will have to defend its interests on the post-Soviet territory. "I recall that when the Soviet Union collapsed the US and many its allies in Western Europe, said that the age influence spheres passed and now the CIS countries ready to deny Russia in any benefits in order to be under other influences. By the way, Hillary Clinton's foreign policy categorically is opposed to any cooperation opportunities and the creation of any associations on the territory of the former Soviet Union under the auspices of Russia. Her political position in respect of 'the Russian imperial ambitions' is strange enough, but understandable. It is disadvantageous for the Russian Federation," Yuri Rogulev pointed out.

According to the expert, this position prevents us from building effective economic cooperation among the former Soviet Union states whose economy was united with the USSR. "It is very difficult to survive for the republics without economic cooperation, as cooperation between enterprises is at a very high level. Without the extension of this interaction Russia is simply unable to develop successfully. Certainly, the matter is not only in the post-Soviet territory, although Ukraine is actively trying to become a pro-Western country. We see that the United States still retain the right to intervene in the affairs of other countries,'' he reminded.

The tragic consequences of US policy in Libya are among the most striking examples, which led to the disaster of national scale. "Now Europe is facing the provoked challenges, not just individual countries. Russia stated in Syria: "You support Assad's resignation, but it won't solve the problem.'' The matter is that the United states always personify policy: Saddam Hussein was "the butcher and dictator'' in Iraq.'' They said that everything would be aright after his resignation. The same situation is in Syria now. At the same time authorities are replaced by radical forces that the situation leads to a general destabilization beyond the post-Soviet territory. Russia is in favor of a more balanced approach and collective actions, which should change of authorities without consideration of possible consequences after this step,'' Yuri Rogulev drew his attention.
