People's Artist of Russia Yuri Solomin is celebrating his 80th birthday today. Russian President Vladimir Putin sent him congratulations on this occasion.
He became famous after Akira Kurosawa's Dersu Uzala (1975). His other notable roles are 'The Blockade' (1973), 'The Road to Calvary' (1977),'An Ordinary Miracle' (1978), 'The Bat' (1979), 'TASS Is Authorized to Declare' (1984), 'Dreams of Russia' (1992). He played 70 roles during his career.
Yury Solomin is a People's Artist of the USSR (1984) and laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation (2001).
