Zakharova: Russia and Azerbaijan have a lot in common

Russia will not do anything that could worsen relations between Moscow and Baku, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

According to her, Russia is developing relations with Azerbaijan and it will only "focus on what would improve them".

"We have a lot in common in all spheres," TASS cited Zakharova as saying.

The diplomat confirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received a request about the termination of the agreement between Turkey and Russia from 1921. "We are studying this issue," she noted.

Members of Russia’s State Duma Valery Rashkin and Sergei Obukhov (Communist Party faction) sent a proposal to the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to denounce the Moscow Treaty of Friendship and Brotherhood signed on March 16, 1921, by the government of Soviet Russia and the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
