A counter-terrorist operation in Syria’s eastern Ghouta was almost over, Russia’s foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.
"The counterterrorism operation in East Ghouta is almost over," Zakharova said, speaking at a weekly briefing.
The diplomat noted that Douma, the main town in eastern Ghouta, remained under the control of Islamist fighters, the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza reported.
She added that a significant part of the civilian population was able to leave the city via humanitarian corridors .
