Today Syrian President Bashar Assad met Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is on a visit to this republic, and his delegation.
Prior to that, the Iranian Foreign Minister was met at Damascus International Airport by Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Miqdad, after which he went for talks with the president.
Zarif arrived in Syria from Lebanon. There he met with the Speaker of Parliament, the Foreign Minister, the Prime Minister and the Secretary General of the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah, with whom he discussed the political situation in Lebanon, the prospects for a political settlement in Syria and the outcome of the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program, RIA Novosti reported.
