Ziya Mammadov: Iranian section of North-South project will increase transit cargo capacity

Azerbaijani Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov has said that after completion of the first construction phase of the North-South project, the capacity of the railway will be about 5 million tons of cargo.

The Minister also noted that "Iran should built its part of the Rasht-Astara railway in order to achieve the maximum results, thus we will obtain very easy access to the Persian Gulf."

Mammadov added that Azerbaijan and Iran will jointly build a bridge over river Astara, "without waiting for the completion of the Iranian part", Trend reports.
