Zurab Abashidze: Azerbaijan was and will be strategic partner of Georgia in gas supplies

The Special Representative of the Georgian Prime Minister on issues of mutual relations with Russia, Zurab Abashidze, said that Azerbaijan, despite possible changes in the gas market, will remain a key supplier of natural gas to Georgia.

"We have received gas from Russia for many years. It is a part of the transit which passes through our country from Russia in the direction of Armenia. If the transit volume will increase, we will receive more gas, and I do not see anything wrong with that. Azerbaijan still is and will remain our strategic partner in this regard," he stressed.

He also noted that this commercial issue is primarily discussed by the ministries of energy and economy of the two countries, Sputnik Georgia writes.
