Russian Public Chamber discusses history of peoples of the Caucasus

Today, the Russian Public Chamber held a round-table discussion
devoted to the problems of interpretation and teaching of history in the
Caucasus. The participants in the meeting were academics, rectors of
universities and various experts in humanities. Among those invited to
one roundtable of experts were representatives of the Center for the
Problems of Caucasus and Regional Security of the Institute for
International Studies, Rector of the Russian State Humanitarian
University Efim Pivovar, director of the Institute for Oriental
Studies Vitaly Naumkin, chairman of the Club “Multinational Russia”
Alexander Sokolov, director of the Institute for Ethnology and
Anthropology Valery Tishkov, and a delegation of representatives of
scientific and experts from Northern Federal Caucasus District.

The participants discussed various important issues concerning the
peoples of the Caucausus, as well as the development of a unified textbook
of their history.
