Azerbaijan, Iran to expand communication cooperation

Iranian Minister of Communication Rza Tagipur said at a meeting with
his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ali Abbas, in Baku that he is satisfied
with cooperation in information and communication technologies and
noted prospects of expanding the cooperation in mail, Internet and
other services, Trend reports.


Azerbaijan and Iran cooperate in the sphere within the memorandum
signed between the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communication and
Information Technologies and the Iranian Ministry of Information and
Communication in Tehran on March 10, 2009.


Azerbaijan and Iran are testing the Secured Transfer of Electronic
Financial Information (STEFI) system. The sides have preliminary
agreements on financial transfers, mail sending to Nakhchivan Autonomy
through Iran and joint publication of stamps.


The deal involves regular bilateral meetings.
