A conference and an evening in memory of the Khojaly tragedy took place in Moscow on the 25th of February, on the eve of the 19th anniversary of this event.
The event was held in the President-Hotel and was jointly organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Russia, the OIC Youth Forum, the Youth Organization of Azerbaijan in Russia and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Russia.
The general coordinator of the OIC Forum on intercultural dialogue, the chairman of the AMOR, head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Russia, Leyla Aliyeva, spoke about the campaign "Justice for Khojaly.” One of the main objectives of the campaign, according to L. Aliyeva, is recognition by the international community of the act of genocide of Azerbaijani civilians on February 25-26, 1992 in the town of Khojaly.
The conference was also attended by Russian and Azeri historians, political scientists and community representatives. Historian, editor-in-chief of Vestnik Kavkaza, Alexei Vlasov, gave a speech at the conference: "I do not want to speak either as an historian or as a political analyst. The things we speak today about point only in one direction – to human hearts. Khojaly is a tragic milestone, not only in the memory of the Azerbaijani people, but also of all those who have compassion, those who sincerely want this never to happen again in the future.”
