Vitaly Wolf, famous TV host of the Moy Serebryany Shar show and director of Radio Cultura, has died, Russia 24 reported on Sunday.
The 80-year old host was hospitalized on February 15. He was taken to the intensive care section of Botkinskaya Hospital.
Wolf was born in Baku on May 23, 1930. He is an honored cultural figure, a PhD in history and laureate of the TEFI award. The Russian president awarded him with the Order “For Services to the Fatherland”, 3rd degree.
Wolf’s first shows started in 1990, with a show about Maria Babanova. Ostankino (First Channel) started broadcasting the Serebryany Shar show in September 1994. He resigned in 2003 and was invited by Oleg Dobrodeyev to the “Russia” channel the next day.
His show was renamed Moy Serebryany Shar. Wolf said that he was interested in people with tragic fates, intensity of emotion and great talent.
Wolf had over 200 shows, describing the life of Churchill, Roosevelt, De Gaulle, Olga Knipper-Chekhova, Angelina Stepanova, Alexander Fadeyev, Maxim Gorky, Marina Tsvetayeva, Olga Yefremova, Tatyana Doronina, Valentine Gaft, Maria Mironova, Nikolai Tsiskaridze and others.
