Alexey Uchitel's The Edge, earlier nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe, received the Russian Nika Award at the Moscow Operetta Theater on Friday night. Yuri Klimenko was also named as the best cameraman.
Vladimir Mashkov starred in the film. He is currently taking part in the new film "Rasputin", directed by Gerard Depardieu, and did not attend the award ceremony.
Mashkov thanked the film's producer Constantine Ernst and director Alexey Uchitel.
Yevgeny Mironov was honored for his secondary role in Nikita Mikhalkov's "Burnt by the Sun 2".
Alexei Popogrebski's "How I Ended This Summer" was named the best directorial work. Rustam Ibragimbekov's "Through the Eyes of a Ghost" became the best film of the CIS and Baltics. Andrey Karasev was awarded for the best music in Denis Osokin's "Ovsyanki".
Russian People's Artist Sergey Yurski received an award.
Mahmud Rafikov received a Nika for screen reporting. He recorded the landing of astronaut Yuri Gagarin.
People's Artist Nina Ruslanova received a Nika for Kitayskaya Babushka".
Everyone commemorated the famous Soviet actress Lyudmila Gurchenko.
