The Dagestani port of Kaspiysk will host an exhibition of modern art called “The North Caucasus Biennale” today, RIA Novosti cites the author and supervisor of the project, Jamilya Dagirov, director of the art-center Pervaya Galeraya - Museum ofModern Art.
She said that the exhibition will be held on April 22 – June 22 with over 55 professional artists of the North Caucasus involved. The exhibition will demonstrate paintings, graphics, sculptures, installations, photos and video art.
The topic of the first biennale is “Communication”. The event is aimed at improving personal and artistic communication between the artists.
The project is an attempt to analyze the state of modern art in the North Caucasus, the paintings, views, ideas, moral and spiritual values.
The exhibition should boost consolidation processes in the republics and beyond, exchanges of views, improvements in communication and participation in Russian and foreign art exhibitions, museums, competitions and training.
